Businesses in Bedford are joining in the green movement by offering ways that customers can recycle, re-use or refill.

Of course, all charity shops are a good example of recycling - saving the cost of creating and shipping in clothes and products from overseas.

The Store in St Cuthbert’s Arcade is a place where waste is eliminated as people bring their own containers to fill with cereals and more. The owner even won a grant to create a living wall alongside the building - helping Bedford to go greener still.

The Cartridge Depot in St Loyes Street won gold in the Green Award category of the SME Luton and Bedfordshire Business Awards recently. They recycle used ink cartridges so they don’t end up in landfill. 

Bathroomatic in The Arcade off the High Street creates vegan soaps and skincare items for those who want to buy organic, ethically sourced products.

A refill revolution at Body Shop means you can help to save the planet and cut plastic use, with the new refill station at Body Shop, Silver Street, Bedford.

Says Manager Amanda Olliver: “ All a customer needs to do is purchase a £2 aluminium bottle first, then can select the product they'd like from the list above.

“Make the switch to refill, and together we could save over 25 tonnes of plastic per year.”
