A series of hour-long cruises along the Embankment have been announced on the John Bunyan Boat. 

Social Distancing guidelines means the capacity is limited to 12, and only accept bookings from parties of 2 or 4 people can be accepted. Each party must be part of the same “bubble'. 

The wearing of a facemask or face covering is compulsory on boarding, and throughout the duration of the trip. Passengers will be asked to queue at an appropriate distance while boarding.  

Volunteer crews will be wearing appropriate PPE.  

The cruises will run from Sovereigns Quay (close to Riverside / Star Rowing Club) on:

Bank Holiday Monday, 31st August at 2pm and 3.30pm  Tickets for a party of two £14, or a party of four £26. 

Every Thursday  and Sunday Afternoon in September and October at 2pm and 3.30pm. Tickets for a party of two £14,  or a party of four £26.  

Plus a Special  Afternoon Tea Cruise on Wednesday 7th October leaving Priory Marina at 2pm for a cruise along the River Great Ouse through Bedford before heading downstream to the Barns Hotel to enjoy a traditional afternoon tea. On leaving the hotel we return directly to Priory Marina. Licensed bar available on board.  Party of two £52 / Party of four £100

The John Bunyan Boat was launched at Priory Marina, Bedford on July 5th 2013, and since that date has carried over 45,000 passengers. As Bedford’s Community Boat it is run by a team of volunteers. It is owned by the Bedford & Milton Keynes Waterway Trust with the objective of raising funds and publicity for the Trust.

The Bedford & Milton Keynes Waterway Trust was established in 1995 to promote a new 16 mile Waterway Park connecting the Grand Union Canal in Milton Keynes to the Great Ouse in Bedford. The Trust is a company limited by guarantee and a registered charity. Its role is one of advocacy for the Waterway Park. Having successfully established an alignment, now protected by policy in three Local Plans, the Trust is currently working with partners to establish a strong business case for the project as part of the infrastructure being planned in Oxford to Cambridge Arc.
