5th Avenue in Bedford now has the key to the door as owner Kerry Cash has been in business for 21 years.
The dynamic, award-winning businesswoman who is always on the cutting edge when it comes to marketing and customer care has new plans too for 2019.
“We recognise that women have less time to spend on themselves between work and family commitments so our 2019 opening days and hours mean they can come to us on some evenings or on days when other salons and spas are shut. We’re here to provide a service when our clients need us,” explains Kerry.
5th Avenue invests in the best stylists and training. “We have sent a senior therapist on a 'train the trainer’ course. Now we have the ability to certify therapists in the brands we use. We have crossed skills with hair and beauty and two stylists are now fully qualified in eyelash extensions. The salon received recognition and runner-up status for customer service and stylist for the East Region of the National Hair & Beauty Awards 2019.
“Our past successes are important but it is what we do on the next visit of our clients which is vital to keep us in business,” added Kerry,
“Over the past two decades pricing points have become even more competitive, keeping the best staff is always a challenge. We invest in continual training and sometimes that has meant our staff being lured away by other salons or spas, even to cruise ships, But we’re happy to report that the best have come back and bring with them some useful experience and ideas.”
Being central to the community and “giving back” has always been part of the 5th Avenue way. Kerry has served as a volunteer Chair of the Beds Businesswomen’s Club, a board member of the Business Improvement District and of Bedford College Services Ltd. She and her team have helped to raise tens of thousands of pounds for charity over the last 21 years. A recent contribution was vouchers for raffle prizes for the Eagle Travel raffle at a Charity Cruise Night on January 12th in aid of Motor Neurone Disease, an appeal inspired by Bedford woman Debbie Burrells.
“When you are in our line of work a sense of goodwill is so important. We know how important it is that businesses support each other because we all want customers and clients to keep coming back to Bedford.”
News Flash: The most recent charity event was a curry buffet night on March 12th in Bedford where Kerry and friends raised nearly £4,500, for local child Lulu De Vries whose family are hoping to fund medical treatment for her in the United States.
