A hundred years of humbug, or a century of sweets is the new deal on offer at Higgins Bedford.

The museum shop is selling a selection of old fashioned, traditional treats supplied by Arcadia of the Victorian Arcade off Bedford’s High Street.

Visitors to the Higgins Bedford in Castle Quay can already find a range of gorgeous gifts and now ribbon-wrapped jars of candy have been added to the shelves.

Debbie Page of the family-owned Arcadia, pictured here with Gemma Hutton of the museum, said:

“Arcadia sweets have been going for more than 110 years and so we are a piece of Bedford history ourselves. We are delighted that some of our range is going to be on offer to the 1,000s of visitors at the museum.”

Bedford Borough Councillor Sarah Jayne Holland, Portfolio Holder of Leisure and Culture: said “We are delighted to be working with the historic Arcadia sweetshop, as it is a real institution in Bedford Borough and one of our oldest shops. It is great to be able to collaborate with them to create this beautiful range of heritage sweets.”
