Keeping families coming into the town centre is part of the mission of the Bedford Business Improvement District (BID) and a new Magic Trail will do just that.
A first for the UK, the invisible images located on pavements show up ONLY in the wet. So making rainy days fun.
A trail of specially created street art images will lead visitors around many locations within the town centre.
Love Bedford BID Director Christina Rowe said: “We are always looking for activities which will link visitors to our levy-paying businesses and we think this activity will bring a smile to people’s faces.
“We have a proven track record of trails in town and our independent businesses especially like to get involved. So with this one there are lots of opportunities for them to develop the idea with invisible art and hidden image activities and sales promotions in their own premises.”
Karen Fryc from Get Into Bed Ltd, who are behind bringing this unique art to the streets of Bedford said: "We are so excited that we have been able to work with BID on making this project happen. After months of planning we have now started to set down the separate designs located around the town centre.
"The fact that this style of art has never been done in this country before, brings an extra dimension of originality to the whole concept. We wanted to turn rainy days into fun days, after all one thing we can be sure of is that it is going to rain, so let's have some fun and make the most of it!
"A number of art works are already in place and the rest will be appearing very soon. So next time it rains bring your brolly to Bedford, and see if you can find them all.”
