MP is BIS for Bedford

20 July 2015

Bedford and Kempston Richard Fuller MP has been made a member of the Business Innovation and Skills (BIS) Parliamentary Select Committee at Westminister.

The announcement came soon after Mr Fuller talked about the importance of skills in raising the employability of local young people and the subsequent valued-added impact on the local economy, at the summer BID business breakfast.

At that meeting at the Bedford Swan Hotel, Mr Fuller made several references to BID-backer Bedford College and its development of apprentices, training provision for local companies and links with major Bedfordshire employers.

Ian Pryce CBE, BID champion and former Chairman said: “Richard’s appointment to such a prestigious committee is good news for Bedford.”

BedfordBID Director Christina Rowe said: “We were grateful to have Richard to come along and speak exclusively to town centre businesses about the newly elected Government’s plan for business in the UK. Here in Bedford our town centre is bucking the trends of others and this is thanks to our ‘all for one’ approach and funding via the Business Improvement District.”
