Harpur Centre welcomes BID win

03 November 2014

The Harpur Centre is looking forward to continue working closely with BedfordBID, which aims to ensure the continued development and success of retailers within the Harpur Centre, who are central to the BID area.

“Over the previous two terms the BID has been instrumental in building Bedford town centre into the busy hub it is today, so the decision to vote yes to BID3 was not a difficult one,” explains Sam Laycock, Centre Manager at the Harpur Centre.

“As well as generating additional funds for the area it also brings the businesses of Bedford town centre closer together, helping to build relationships and a greater sense of community.  We are very much looking forward to the future and working closely with Christina Rowe, Director of Operations at the BID, the Council and other major stakeholders,” adds Sam.

As part of the BID all but the smallest businesses in the zone, including national chains, local organisations and independents, pay a levy which goes into a central pot managed by representatives from those businesses.  The board then decides on the best way to spend this money to guarantee the town centre continues to thrive.
