Have you ever found archaeological items whilst digging in the garden, taking the dog for a walk, or metal detecting? Bring them into The Higgins Bedford and enjoy this opportunity to discover more about them with Finds Liaison Officer, Matt Fittock.

This is an ongoing event, and more opportunities to meet with Matt Fittock are available on the website. Visit http://bit.ly/HigginsPAS for more information about the scheme.

The Portable Antiquities Scheme is a nationwide service run by the British Museum. To find out more about the service visit: www.finds.org.uk

A Medieval silver-gilt annular brooch found at Lidlington. The inscription in Lombardic lettering reads, "I am the flower of good love". Brooches similar to this were fairly common personal ornaments in the medieval period. Often the inscriptions were designed to keep the owner safe from harm.
